Over several years I worked on this beautiful contemporary house. I started by designing the front area of the main house overlooking the marshes at Morston. This included the planting of mature Pinus austriaca and Quercus ilex underplanted with Ulex europaeus, two large linked circular lawns were laid, large swathes of plants were added including Tamarix, Buddliea, Calamagrostis, Hebe, Salvia and Stipa, a coastal wildflower mix was sown on the areas around the lawns, and two interlocking S shaped Hawthorn hedges were planted to screen the drive.
Next the main courtyard was completed. Large slabs of porcelain paving leads from the entrance to the main doors. Extensive wooden decking on two levels surround a raised swimming pool. Sections of painted block walls were built to divide some areas and a charred wood pergola added to one section. An outdoor kitchen and shower were installed. Large palms (Trachycarpus fortunei) fig trees and several beds of impactful planting added.
Two further areas were transformed. An area for the cabin a holiday rental and finally The Hub garden, with a different feel, a natural pool with wooden decking walkways incorporating the existing weeping willows, reshaped Privet hedging, and a dry garden with stepping stones and vibrant planting; Lychnis, Nepeta, Euphorbia, Salvia.
